Welcome

The tenth Model-Based Neuroscience and Cognition Summer School, hosted by the University of Amsterdam, will be held in summer 2024!

The University of Amsterdam will host the tenth annual Model-Based Neuroscience and Cognition Summer School.

Dates: July 29 – August 2, 2024
Location: University of Amsterdam

Costs: €550 (This includes regististration, snacks and coffee/tea. Lunch is not included.)

The Summer School will provide participants with hands-on experience in both cognitive modeling using evidence-accumulation models and cognitive neuroscience methods. This year, the summer school includes a three day introduction to evidence-accumulation modeling using Bayesian inference. In the last two days, participants can choose between a neuroscience and an advanced cognition track. In the neuroscience track, participants will learn how to create joint models of behavior and EEG/fMRI data. In the advanced cognition track, participants will learn how to use the evidence-accumulation framework to formalize performance in complex experimental paradigms, how to construct joint models of multiple tasks using techniques such as hierarchical factor models, and how to combine evidence-accumulation and reinforcement-learning models.

The program includes a series of lectures from experts including Andrew Heathcote, Dora Matzke, Michael Nunez, Steven Miletić, and Birte Forstmann.

The Summer School is aimed at PhD-students and early postdocs who wish to acquire the basics of Bayesian evidence-accumulation modeling, and combine that knowledge with 1) experimental and theoretical neuroscience research; or 2) advanced modeling techniques aimed at capturing performance in complex and dynamic paradigms and the integration of evidence-accumulation with reinforcement-learning principles.
